Chapter One: Introduction

1-1.
Motivation of Study

According to an investgation on worldwide Internet
users from Internet World Stats, before June 2017, there are 3,885 millions
people, which is 51.7 % of this planet, using Internet. In Asia, so far, there
are about 49.9% of people are using Internet. Due to this fact, I strongly feel
that the Internet must bring some issues or problems to us. Therefore, I
decided to do this study to discover the inner problem between the Internet
addicted and interpersonal relationship.

1-2.
Purpose of Study

I use two main points in my questionnarie which
are the Internet addiction and interpersonal relationship. Furthermore, I use
three supporting idea in the Internet addiction zone which are tolerance,
withdrawal symptoms, and compulsive internet use. At the same time, I use two
supporting idea in interpersonal relationship zone, which are intimacy with
friends and exposition of personal information.

Chapter Two: Literature
Review

2-1.
Introduction

I separate this concept into two parts, one is the
Internet addiction and the other is interpersonal relationship.

2-2.
The Definition of the Internet Addiction

The Internet Addiction is not mostly similar like drug
addicted. Young?1996?thinks that the Internet addiction is when impuleses
lost control and started to behave in an abnormal way. (Goldberg, 1996) state
that If the individual meets the following three or more symptoms within 12
consecutive months, he / she will most likely to be an Internet addiction
disorder. First, tolerance, a person who need more time to use the Internet to
be satisfied; or keep the same time to use the Internet as usual but being less
satified. Next, withdrawal, which are having two or more syndromes while a
person is quitting from using the Internet.: psychomotor agitation, anxiety,
can’t stop thinking what is happening in the Internet, having dreams about the
Internet, and unconsciously typing in the air. Then, the time of using Internet
is more than their original expectations. Trying very hard to control or stop
the use of the Internet, but failed. Moreover, spending a lot of time on the
Internet related activities. Reducing or giving up on important social events
due to the use of the Internet. Finally, Even if they have awared negative
impacts due to the use of the Internet, they still use it.

2-3.
The Definition of Interpersonal Relationship

According to (Heider, 1959), He mentioned
interpersonal relationship is refers to the relationship between a few people
each other, that is, the individual’s thoughts, expectations, perceptions and
reactions to others. Brammer& MacDonald(2003) stated that interpersonal
relationship is to think of the individual and interaction, the impact of the
state, meaning the impact of socialization process. And (???, 2014) thinks interpersonal relationship is referring to two or more
individuals through mutual recognition, evaluation, understanding and response
and other forms of interaction between the formation of human and interaction
through language or behavior to show cooperation, competition or other
behavioral responses, and then construct the interaction with others .

Chapter 3: Research
Methodology

3-1. Questionnaire

I choose
to do a questionnaire to collect the imformation that I need. And I cut the questionnaire
into two parts. Except the gender question, the first question to the eighth
question are all trying to test subjects to see if they have the Internet
addiction or not. And other question, I focus on interpersonal relationships.

3-2. Participants

I gave
this survey to my friend in my class and the other classmates in our English
department, as well as students in other departments who I know from the other
courses. And participants included 165 college students (67 females, 98 males)

3.3 Procedures of Data
Collecting

I use
google survey to help me collecting the data that I need. It has a lot of
selections that we can use. Also it can show very much details in google excel.
Such as what time did a subject just submitted a survey and their answers.
Furthermore, I can choose the answers that I want to observe. For example, if I
want to see the answer 4 from question 9, I can click on a fliter to help me
filter it.

Chapter4: Finding and Results

4-1. Analysis on Classification
of Gender

As we can see from this pie chart, we can know
that the experiential subject of male is much higher than female. The purpose
of this question is to dicover the background of the experimantal subject. The
percentages are as follows:59.4% percent from male, and 38.9 percent for
female.

4-2. Analysis on
Classification of the Degree of Internet Addiction

The reason why I put this question in my survey is
because that I want to test the subjects’ withdrawal symptoms from the Internet.
If they choose the number over three which shows that they might have withdrawal
symptoms from the Internet. Next, the result shows that 43% of subjects choose
option three and about 28.5% of subjects choose option four. This shows that about
71.5% of my experiential subjects might have withdrawal symptoms from the Internet.

The reason why I put this question in my survey is
because that I want to test if the subjects are compulsively use the Internet.
If they choose the number over three which shows that they might have a problem
with compulsively use the Internet. Then, the chart shows that 27.3% of
subjects choose option three and about 40% of subjects choose option four. This
shows that about 67.3% of my experiential subjects might have a problem with
compulsively use the Internet.

The reason why I put this question in my survey is
because that I want to test the subjects’ tolerance from the Internet. If they
choose the number over three which shows that they might have a tolerance
problem. Then, the chart shows that 38.2% of people of subjects choose option
three and about 37.6% of subjects choose option four. This shows that 75.8% of
my experiential subjects might have a tolerance promblem from the Internet.

The reason why I put this question in my survey is
because that I want to test if the subjects are compulsively use the Internet.
If they choose the number over three which shows that they might have a problem
with compulsively use the Internet. Then, the chart shows that 27.3% of
subjects choose option three and about 12.1% of subjects choose option four.
This shows that about 39.4% of my experiential subjects might have a problem
with compulsively use the Internet.

The reason why I put this question in my survey is
also because that I want to test the subjects’ withdrawal symptoms from the
Internet. If they choose the number over three which shows that they might have
withdrawal symptoms from the Internet. Next, the result shows that 29.1% of
subjects choose option three and about 43.6% of subjects choose option four.
This shows that about 72.7% of my experiential subjects might have withdrawal
symptoms from the Internet.

The reason why I put this question in my survey is
because that I want to test if the subjects are compulsively use the Internet.
If they choose the number over three which shows that they might have a problem
with compulsively use the Internet. Then, the chart shows that 27.3% of
subjects choose option three and about 27.9% of subjects choose option four.
This shows that about 55.2% of my experiential subjects might have a problem
with compulsively use the Internet.

The reason why I put this question in my survey is
because that I want to test the subjects’ tolerance from the Internet. If they choose
the number over three which shows that they might have a tolerance problem.
Then, the chart shows that 38.2% of people of subjects choose option three and
about 37.6% of subjects choose option four. This shows that 75.8% of my
experiential subjects might have a tolerance promblem from the Internet.

Relationship

This question is mainly discovering about the experiential
subjects’ exposition of personal information to their colse friends, family
members, and partners. If they choose the number over three which declares that
they might hide some information from them because of using the Internet. Then,
the chart shows that 33.3% of people of subjects choose option three and about
21.2% of subjects choose option four. This shows that 54.5% of my experiential
subjects might have an exposition of personal information problem.

This question is mainly observating about the
experiential subjects’ intimacy with friends. If they choose the number over
three which tells us that they might have some problem with the intimacy with

Chapter 5:

This chart is all answer over option 3 and 4. This
shows that those interpersonal relationships actually being influenced by the
