Albom’s craft in this novel contributes as one
of the biggest factor that draws the reader’s in. In the beginning of the
novel, the narrator (not Charley, but his daughter Maria) questions readers
directly, which allows the audience to be fully involved in the story. The
narrator asks, “Have you ever lost someone you love and wanted one more
conversation, one more chance to make up for the time when you thought they
would be there forever? …What if you got it back?” (Albom 3). Albom’s approach
causes the reader to wonder what it would be like to have “one more day” with the
loved ones.
